SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET 81/100

Tim Burton and Johnny Depp team up again, this time for an adaptation of the Broadway musical about an angry man who sets up a barbershop, slashes many a throat, and keeps Mrs. Lovett well supplied with grisly ingredients for her meat pie shop. Helena Bonham Carter also stars.

NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN 88/100

This Texas-set film noir focuses on three men: a hustler (Josh Brolin) who stumbles on a big score, a psychotic hit man (Javier Bardem) who pursues him, and a laconic sheriff (Tommy Lee Jones) who doesn’t particularly want any part of either. This Coen brothers film won the Academy Award for best picture of 2007.
